Nail Trends, Jamberry Style!

Today I want to share with you some of my favorite Nail Trends for 2017 and how these looks can be done using Jamberry products! These trends made me do a little mental fist pump in the air because I knew that these looks would be no sweat for me and my Jamberry Stash! The BEST part about it? I don’t have to spend hours in a salon or pay salon prices.  I also don’t have to be a master with a detail brush or need the ability to create tiny little works of art on a canvas the size of my fingernail!

Touch of Black

This is probably my favorite trend. I have always been a sucker for the drama of Black! When you add just a bit of black against a contrasting background, whether it be a bright color, a soft neutral color or even bare nails, it is sure to add the right amount of “pop” to your manicure!

3D Accent

This look is SOOO easy to get with Jamberry!  Our Design Dimensions give you a whole bottle full of bling in different shapes, finishes and sizes so you can make this look your own.  Don’t forget, the Design Dimensions can also be included in the Build Your Own Color Suite offer!  What is that?  When you purchase 4 items from our Lacquer Collection, including Base Coats, Top Coats, Glitters, and Colors, you will get all 4 at a 10% discount!  Just load your cart and the discount will come off automatically! And just so you know, the Quick Dry Top Coat can be used in place of the Ultra Shine Top Coat to seal and honestly, I prefer the QDTC for not just the quick dry time, but also for the amazing shine and protection it gives my manicure!

Feminine Neutrals

If you aren’t into bright, bold colors or overly busy designs on a high contrast background or if your job requires you to keep your nail looks subtle, then this trend is SO for you!  Soft, neutral colors with subtle design give you a bit of pop in a more subdued style.  Feminine, beautiful, and classy, this trend will look great with any look!

Negative Spae

I am going to be honest, I had never worn our clear wraps without lacquer, gel or another wrap underneath for contrast, but after looking through pictures demonstrating this trend, I asked myself “Why Not?”  So…I tried it, and guess what?? I LOVED the look!  I do mixed manis so it was only on a couple of nails, and it wasn’t even the most obvious pattern I used, but it seemed like everyone who noticed my nails mentioned the lace over bare nail specifically.  I heard words like, “Classy”, “So Pretty”, “Feminine”, and “Gorgeous”.  That pretty much sold me so when I went to do my current mani, I couldn’t help but include a Clear Wrap on a bare nail again! I think I may have a new obsession!  Here are pics of last week’s mani and my current mani.

On the left is last week’s mani consisting of Vertical Garden, Lace Noir (sadly, retired), and Tutus and Tiaras TruShine Gel Enamel.  On the right, is my current mani made up of Masterpiece (one of our brand new designs), Metallic Silver Stripe, and Beauty Sleep TruShine Gel Enamel.

So, pick your trend, give it a go and please feel free to share pics! I would LOVE to see how you make these looks your own! You can send them to me via e-mail (in the contact info on the right) or post them to my Facebook Page.

Glitter Ombre with Jamberry!

As much as I love Jamberry Nail Wraps, I admit that sometimes, I enjoy doing my OWN  Nail Art looks.  That is when I break out my Jamberry Lacquers and TruShine Gels and play!  Jamberry is amazing for Nail Art! Great coverage, quick dry time, and a wide range of colors and finishes offer so many options.  My most recent Jamicure mixes wraps, lacquers, and regular craft glitter to create an “ombre” look on a couple of fingers and I believe this just may be my all time FAVORITE look!

After I posted this picture of my nails featuring one of our Seasonal Wraps, Harvest Gold, and I Lava You Lacquer with Gold Ultra Fine Glitter, several people messaged me asking how I did the glitter.  I decided it was time to try my hand at a technique video and here it is!  Trust me, this is so much easier than you may think, but the results are out of this world!

If you decide to give this technique a try, I would LOVE to see your results!  Use the contact info here, or find me on Facebook and show me how YOU Rocked this look!

Perfect Pairings: Black Cherry and Beta

I am back with a couple of more wrap/gel matches for all of you out there who like me, LOVE the TruShine Gel Enamels, but are addicted to the Jamberry Nail Wraps!  By mixing and matching, you can have the best of both worlds!!

I thought since Black Cherry comes in every TruShine Gel Enamel Kit, it would be a good idea to show you some wraps that will look AMAZING when paired with the color in your brand new kit!  For this one, I chose Tartan, Lava Lamp (because this color really pops when paired with simple Black and White designs), La Fleur and Moab.

Black Cherry

Next up is Beta! I have to admit, I don’t own this one yet, but it is definitely on my Must Have List!  This one would look gorgeous with so many wraps, I had a hard time picking my favorites to include on the graphic!!  I ended up choosing Highlander, Fractal, Copenhagen and Tiki Hut.

Remember, these aren’t the ONLY matches for these awesome gels, but they should give you a good jumping off point for your next mixed mani! Don’t be afraid to shake things up and make them your own!  I would LOVE to see pics of your favorite gel/wrap combos! Contact me using the info on the right, find me on Facebook, or go to My Jamberry Site! I would love to hear from you! Until next time, Keep Rockin’ Those Wraps!

Perfect Pairings: Beauty Sleep

Hello!  So here I am back from Vacation and trying to get back  into the groove. While I was away, my internet access was VERY limited, but I did manage to connect a couple of times just to check messages and keep an eye on my business.  During one of those times, I received a lovely e-mail from a woman named Sharon who had found my blog post about different ways to wear the TruShine Gel System.  One of the things she said inspired me.  She said that she has a hard time matching wraps and gels online since you can’t place them side by side.  So, I decided that until we get a “Looks Great With” button on the Jamberry Site to offer pairing suggestions, I would create my own!  In her e-mail, this wonderful woman indicated that she was looking at the Beauty Sleep and Beta Gel Colors.  Well, Sharon, as promised here is the first of my “Perfect Pairings” posts!  Today, I offer suggestions for Beauty Sleep.  While Damsel in Distress, Trippin’, Butterfly Bliss, and Speed of Light are not the ONLY options…they are among my personal favorites.

I also want to share with you how I paired Beauty Sleep!  Since I have had it for over a month but had yet to wear it, I figured no time like the present!  I decided to do some layering as well!  I chose to pair Beauty Sleep with Dancing Lilacs (a clear wrap) over Country Club and added Metro in the mix!

As always, you can contact me with the info on the right, find me on Facebook, or contact me through My Jamberry Site. I would love to hear from you! Let me know how YOU paired Beauty Sleep, tell me what TruShine Gel Color you would like suggestions for, or just say hello!  Until next time gang, keep Rockin’ Those Wraps!

What’s in a Sheet?

Today during a FB party that I currently have running, someone asked me what they get on a sheet of wraps.  Now, I am in the habit of saying “You get 2 full Manicures and 2 Full Pedicures”. It occurred to me tho that someone new to Jamberry may not understand how you get that from a single sheet of wraps.  So…I decided to make a quick video to explain.  Now, I just recently started my YouTube Channel…like…last Friday recently! LoL  OK…I created the channel a while ago but it took me this long to work up the guts to put anything on it! LoL  At any rate, I thought y’all may like to see the face and voice behind the posts.  Please don’t judge too harshly! I am still figuring all this out and haven’t yet gotten brave enough to try any editing! So…without further ado…

Release the Inner Junior

Yesterday, there was a lot of excitement over the release of the new Disney Collection by Jamberry.  There was also some disappointment that at the moment, they are only available in adult size.  As I said yesterday, Juniors ARE coming!  I am guessing it won’t be too awful long before they are available.  However, if your little one can’t wait to wear Disney Princess Ariel on her nails, I have a solution for you! In fact, this little trick works for trimming down ANY wrap to fit your nail!  I am going to show you how to make a template, and do it in a way that you only need to do it ONCE!!

First of all, you are going to need a couple of things that I am betting you already have!

OK…didn’t notice I kind of had a whole Purple Theme going on until just now…but hey! It’s Jamberry so we will go with it! LoL  So, what we have here is everything you will need.

  1. Scotch Tape
  2. Sharpie Marker (The Fine Tip kind would work better, but I couldn’t find mine so the regular Sharpie will work fine as long as it still has a decent point on it)
  3. Scissors (Smaller craft scissors work well)
  4. Thin cardboard.  I used a piece from an envelope box. Cereal boxes, paper plates, or even regular poster board would also work great!
  5. The wraps you want to cut down
  6. Wraps that are the size you want (optional)

Now, there are a couple of ways to get the correct size to make your template. If you have a sheet of wraps (in this case, Juniors) that have wraps that are the size you want still on the sheet, then you can use those!  If not, you can make a template from the nail itself. I don’t have any little ones around to demonstrate that on, so I used my own finger. Yes…my nails are naked! Don’t judge…I am waiting for my Stylebox to come in the mail today! LoL  Anyway, you are going to place the tape on the nail, or on the back of the sheet of wraps over the wrap you want to copy. Using your marker, simply trace around.  You may notice that the tape on the back of the sheet of Junior Wraps has what look like fingerprints all over it. That is because before placing the tape on the sheet, I quickly stuck it to the back of my hand. I didn’t want it TOO sticky because I want to be able to easily remove the tape once I have my outline.

The next thing you are going to do is take your tape and place it on your cardboard.  You will use the outline to cut your template.  Notice I am cutting around the INSIDE of my line.  If I cut around the outside, it would be too large and there would be more trimming involved. Now, you COULD place the tape with the outline directly on the back of the wrap you want to trim, but if you do it on the cardboard first, you will have a template that you can save for later use and not have to go through all this again!

So…now you have your template cut out.  All that’s left is to use it to transfer it onto the wrap you are cutting (Here is where that fine tip Sharpie would really make it easier!) You will notice that I have marked the template with the finger that it is for.  This will make things much easier the next time you need to cut down a wrap!  Basically, all you are going to do is place your template on the back side of the wrap you want to trim, trace around the template then cut it out. Now you have a wrap that is JUST the size you need!

So that’s it! I hope you found this helpful!  If you have any question or would like to show me your results, or just your favorite manicures, I would LOVE to hear from you!  You can reach me using the contact info on the right, or you can always come and see me on my Jamberry Page on Facebook! Be sure to like it while you are there so you can message me and keep up with not just my blog posts, but other random tidbits!  I just love hearing from new people and making new friends!  You can also look under the “Tips and Tricks” category to see more posts that will help you get the most from your Jamberry Products! There is even a category for TruShine Tips!  Until next time my friends…

The 7 Vendor Holiday Blender

The WHAT??  Allow me to explain.  I had this crazy idea a couple of weeks ago that I am not the only one who dreads the Holiday Shopping Season.  Not because I don’t like to buy gifts…but because of the crowds, the pushing and shoving to get the biggest shiny at the best price, and the lines…OMG…THE LINES!  There has to be a better way, right?  So I called up my cousin who is a Scentsy rep, and we put our heads together and came up with 5 other friends and family that are consultants for other companies.  The result?  The 7 Vendor Holiday Blender!  An online Mini-Mall of sorts.  We set up a party on Facebook where people can knock out some of their Holiday Shopping from the comfort of their own home!  No crowds, no pushing, no lines!

Perfecting Your “Jamicure”

Maybe you tried Jamberry Wraps once and weren’t thrilled with the outcome, or maybe you haven’t tried them yet because you don’t think you can do them.  Perhaps you have tried them, love them, but still get wrinkles and bubbles and wish that you could get yours to look as good as they do in pictures you have seen.  Whatever your position, I am here to help.  I have some little tips and tricks that may give you the “Jamicure” you want or give you a better understanding of how they work so you feel more confident about giving them a shot!  Here we go!

I cannot stress this one enough!  I like to do all my nails before I apply the wraps, then wipe each one down with alcohol or Jamberry’s Nail Cleanser individually before each wrap.

This one took me forever to “wrap” my head around (LoL…WRAP! Get it??  See what I did there!? LoL) It seems like you want the wrap to cover the ENTIRE nail, but trust me, you don’t!  If the wrap touches any part of the cuticle or skin, it will not form a good seal and your wraps will lift.  Believe me, YOU may see that little gap, but no one else will notice!

Pretty self-explanatory, don’t you think? Don’t have an Orange Stick?  You can get one along with all the other tools you will need in the Jamberry Application Kit!

Straight up the middle, then start at the base again and go side to side with your thumb.  Use the rubber end of a Rubber Tipped Cuticle Pusher (also found in Jamberry’s Application Kit) to continue to smooth and seal around the edges.

I REALLY wish someone would have told me this when I first started wearing the wraps!  It would have reduced my “learning curve” considerably!

I don’t have one of these yet.  Mainly because every time I am in town I am so focused on the errands I need to run, it slips my mind.  It IS however on the “Stocking Stuffer Suggestion List” that my Honey asks me to give him every year.  And if I do remember to pick one up before then? Well, never hurts to have a backup!

Once I have the wrap on my nail, it isn’t uncommon for me to reheat it 2 or 3 times. Again, the Rubber Tipped Cuticle Pushers (also known as Purple Gold) that can be found in the Application Kit are awesome for sealing the edges!

I do ALL the wraps on one hand and THEN go back and file the tips.  That way, I know they have cooled!

Guess what!?  You will also get a really NICE set of Nail Clippers in the Application Kit!

If you give your wraps the time to cure, the seal on the edges will be stronger and you will be able to enjoy your manicure longer!

So…that’s it for today.  Look for a few more tips in the near future.  Those will be a bit more advanced tips for after you have applied your wraps, pedicures, trimming wraps to fit and the like.  In the meantime, if you have any questions please contact me.  I am happy to help!  If you think you are ready to give the wraps a shot, you can REQUEST A SAMPLE, or as always, you can ORDER from my site!

If you already have a sample or some wraps…give them another try using these tips and feel free to share your pics! I would love to see them!!

Wraps Done RIGHT! Tips and Tricks for the Best Possible Application!

Jamberry recently did a survey that covered a LOT of points relevant to our business.  The thing that jumped out at me the MOST was the data collected on customer purchases.  It was found that 74% of customers do not reorder.  Why?  Mainly, it was application issues.  I honestly find that very, very sad.  As a consultant, I consider it my job not just to sell you nail wraps, but also work with you to make sure you understand the application process and give you all the tips and tricks and advice I can to make sure your wraps are easy for you to apply (and believe it or not…people can and DO make it MUCH harder than it needs to be!) and that you are getting the longest possible wear out of them.  When you purchase something in a retail store that requires assembly, application, or requires that you know how to use it, it comes with an instruction manual, right?  Well, application instructions are printed on the back of every package of Nail Wraps…but it doesn’t stop there.  You also get ME!  Your very own walking, talking, personal customer support!  No 800 numbers, no automated system, no guy from a foreign country reading out of a manual trying to help you.  It is 100% little old me!

So, with that said, it is time for me to get to work and discuss some of the most common mistakes made during application and some of the most common frustrations with the wraps and how to fix them!

THEY ARE ALL WRINKLED AROUND THE EDGES – This is one of the most common mistakes out there.  Odds are, the wrap you used is a size too big. This is something that took me a while to accept.  I kept fighting it and thinking that my wraps NEEDED to cover my entire nail too look good, but they didn’t look good because they were constantly wrinkling and lifting. To be honest, I STILL struggle with this a bit.  Just last week, I got in a hurry and didn’t use the proper sized wraps.  The result was a waste of a GORGEOUS set of wraps. This is what using the wrong sized wraps will look like after a day or so.

Bad App!

Jamberry wraps come to you on a clear sheet.  This is so you can lay the wrap on your nail and see which size will fit best.  It is natural to want to use the wrap that covers your nail from side to side.  When you find the wrap that does that, USE THE NEXT SIZE DOWN!  Your wrap should actually be a bit SMALLER than your nail!  Yes, you will have a sliver of nail showing on either side, but do not fear the gap!  Trust me…no one is going to notice except for you!  If the wrap fits your nail perfectly, then you run the risk of the wrap touching the skin on the sides of your nail.  These wraps were made to form a seal on your nail, not your skin.  If it touches the skin, it WILL start to lift and the seal will be broken. Another issue with wraps that are too large is that there will be more wrap than you need, so there is more to pucker and wrinkle.  Keeping the wrap just a fuzz smaller than your natural nail will not only give your a little wiggle room (I can NEVER get mine on perfectly centered and straight…I NEED that little extra space! LoL) it will also insure that the wrap is ONLY touching the nail and you will be able to get a really good seal that will last for at least a week or two.  The first pic shows that there is room along the side of my wrap.  That is what YOU will see.  The second pic is what everyone else will see.

WhatYouSee PinkPolka

THE TIPS SNAG IN MY HAIR– Yeah…been there, done that!  The official Jamberry instructions tell you to file the excess from the tip using a downward motion at a 90 degree angle.  Well, I as well as many other consultants will tell you to forget the straight up and down thing.  Instead, file at a bit of an angle.  This will taper the tip of the wrap to sit flush with the tip of your nail.  Yes, you will have a bit of the nail exposed at the tip, but again, I have NEVER had anyone notice it.  In fact, unless I am looking…I don’t notice it.  This has helped with the whole snagging thing a LOT! Here you can see that just a bit of the tip is exposed, but it doesn’t take away from the overall look of the wrap!

THEY TOOK TOO LONG TO APPLY– I hear this one a lot.  First, let’s talk about how long it takes to apply the wraps.  Think about cooking your favorite meal.  The very first time you made it, how long did it take you?  Probably longer than it takes you to whip it up now!  That first time, you weren’t familiar with the process…what ingredients went in when, how long to cook, what temperature.  But after you had made that same dish a couple of times and pretty much had the process and details down pat, you probably cut the prep time considerably.  The same is true with the Jamberry wraps.  Sure, it takes a while at first if you are doing it right.  You want to take your time, make sure you are doing this right and that right…maybe even referring back to the instructions or the application video a couple of times.  BUT…after you have done it a couple of times, you will be more familiar with the whole process and your confidence will increase.  When that happens, the time it takes to apply them decreases.  You still want to take your time a bit tho.  Remember, there is a HUGE difference between being efficient and getting in a hurry.

I JUST CAN’T GET THEM ON RIGHT– This kind of goes with what I just said above.  While the application process isn’t HARD…it is something that needs to be learned.  The more you do it, the better you will get.  The old saying is true, Practice Makes Perfect!  I can understand tho how you would not want to use up all your pretty new wraps “practicing”.  Well, that is where I come in!  I am happy to provide you with an accent sheet or two so that you can use those to practice and get the feel for the process. If I am your consultant…I WANT to help you so don’t be afraid to contact me!

I LIKE THE WRAPS, BUT THEY DAMAGED MY NAILS– When removed properly, the risk of nail damage is minimal.  I have the thinnest, peeliest (yeah…I know…totally NOT a word LoL) nails on the planet, but even my nails don’t sustain damage when I take off my wraps.  Proper removal is just as important if not MORE important than the application process.  There are several different methods to try and I will be happy to share those with you (hmmm…maybe another post on nothing BUT removal…) if you like, but for now, I will share the method I personally use.

Step 1- Using the flat side of the orange stick or your thumbnail, break the seal around the edge of your wrap.

IMG_2403 resized

Step 2- Using a cotton ball and Jamberry Lacquer and Wrap Remover or your favorite brand of non-acetone remover, work the remover up under the wrap.  The wrap will continue to lift as the adhesive is dissolved by the remover.

Step 3- Once all the wraps are removed, use a fresh cotton ball with a little more remover to completely remove any last traces of the adhesive.

Yup! That is it!!  Like I said, there are lots of different methods using everything from Coconut Oil to Hot Water.  If you are interested in any of those methods, just say the word.  I will happily share them with you!

So…those are just a couple of the most common issues that I hear on a regular basis.  Maybe the reason you have never tried Jamberry or tried them once but not again is something different.  Please, leave a comment or contact me using the contact info on the right.  I will be more than happy to listen to your issue and do my best to find a fix that works for you!  If after reading this, you think you just may be ready to TRY Jamberry, simply REQUEST A SAMPLE!  If you would like a full set of gorgeous nails, there are over 300 designs to choose from on MY SITE.  And remember, with just a bit of patience, you CAN have the gorgeous nails you see in the pictures! If I can do it, anyone can!! See the pic below?  Those are my nails and I did that!  There is absolutely NOTHING special about me in that regard.  I am not a nail tech, not a cosmetologist…I am just a girl who Bought a Kit!

(Note: Some of the images in this post show wraps that are no longer available.  The pictures however were the best I had to illustrate the points made in this post.  If you see something you like, I will do my best to suggest something similar from our current catalog.)

How About a MAN-icure?

Ladies, we spend a lot of time on our nails.  Who doesn’t like the feeling you get when you know your nails are rockin’ whatever look you have chosen for the moment?  I know I do!  But guess what??  There are a set of hands that are probably neglected!  That’s right…Your MAN has hands too!  And on the ends of his fingers, he has nails!  Now I know you are thinking, “Yeah…like MY man is gonna let me give him a manicure!”  I am here to tell you…you might be surprised!

One day in the not so distant past, I noticed for the umpteenth time that my man was sitting on the other end of the sofa chewing on his cuticles.  Of course, I told him, “Stop that!”  His response was the usual, “Well then FIX it!”  So I went to my Jamberry Application Kit to dig out my cuticle scissors once AGAIN to trim off the dry, torn cuticles around his nail.  The work he does in Quality Control has him dealing with very small parts and for some reason, tends to dry out his nails and cuticles BAD.  So as I am digging for my scissors pushing aside my file, clippers, cuticle remover, and orange sticks, I thought, “Wait!  What am I DOING??  I have everything here to “fix it” RIGHT!”  So with that, I ordered him to the kitchen table. This is what we started with…Before

See what I mean?  His cuticles were a MESS!  And the killer is, the man has GORGEOUS nail beds!  Even when his nails are cut as short as they can be cut, he STILL has long nails!  (Yeah, me and my short little nail beds totally hate him for that! LoL)

So, first things first, I HAD to address those cuticles!  For that, I used my Jamberry Cuticle Remover Pen. Not only did I end up dealing with the cuticles you can see, but also some MAJOR invisible cuticle! (That is an ultra thin layer of cuticle that is at the base and sometimes sides of the nail that is usually all but invisible to the naked eye but if it dries out, will crack and tear leading to hangnails and ragged edges just like a regular cuticle.  It is also often the cause for wraps and lacquers to not adhere properly and lift at the base of your nail!)  No worries tho, my Remover Pen, Jamberry Rubber Tipped Cuticle Pusher, and an Orange Stick made quick work of that!  I did have to use the scissors after all because…well…look at the middle finger in that pic!  And that wasn’t the worst one!

After the cuticles were dealt with, it was pretty much business as usual.  I used my Jamberry Clippers to trim, my Jamberry File to shape, and my Jamberry Buffing Block to smooth out the ridges in his nails.  Once all that was done, it was looking MUCH better, but I wanted to protect my work, so I finished off by cleaning his nails REALLY good with the Jamberry Nail Cleanser and finished with Jamberry Ultra Shine Top Coat.  If your man doesn’t want all the shine, you can use the Jamberry Matte Top Coat as well.  The final step was Jamberry Cuticle Oil to help keep his cuticles and nails hydrated and healthy.  This was how his nails looked once I was all finished! After

MUCH better, don’t you think?  Even he was impressed!  When I was all finished he looked me right in the eye and asked if I planned to do this for him every week! LoL  It looks like I have a standing appointment!

You may be wondering why I went into all that detail when I could have just said, “Hey…gave my Honey a manicure.  His nails looked like this…now they look like THIS!” and posted a couple of pics.  The reason, besides giving you the step by step so you would know HOW I got these results, is because I wanted to show you how the right tools can make ALL the difference.  Every tool I used can be found in the Jamberry Application Kit and you can even purchase the Kit WITH Cuticle Oil!  Other than that, I used the Cuticle Remover (the best I have ever used BTW), the Nail Cleanser (but if push comes to shove, you CAN use alcohol, but it does tend to be drying and since that is how his nails GOT that way, I wanted something that wouldn’t dry them out too bad) and one of Jamberry’s Top Coats.  I also wanted to point out here that I understand not everyone LIKES having their nails painted up with color and designs and patterns.  That is fine!  That doesn’t mean however that those people don’t like having their natural nails look nice!  If this is you and you have been thinking Jamberry isn’t for you for that reason…think again!  Jamberry isn’t just about wraps and lacquer.  They are all about HEALTHY nails!

Whether you are into all the fun designs of the wraps, the gorgeous lacquers, or even if you are a natural nail type person…Contact Me and I will help you select the products you need to keep your nails looking gorgeous no matter WHAT your style!
